When you are drafting from a Vaults of Wisdom, remember that you don't have to choose a card. Once you have done this, then you can fill in the remainder of your deck with drafted cards. Treasures and the rarer Gems can be better than any card. Instead, save Gold to buy the best gear from Naddim first. The basic deck needs about 4 decent cards before it becomes competitive.īut once you have some Embellishments to help you out of the starting gate, it's best to avoid the Vaults until the map is completely painted. When you first start playing Roguebook, you will need to visit these Vaults as soon as possible in a run. You draft new cards to improve your deck at Vaults of Wisdom. When you first find Aurora's Teacup, don't use it. Paint might too, but I've never seen a reason to hoard these. Hearts stay in your inventory between maps. It's worth rescuing this, even if it isn't a great item, since you will get a second Treasure free. On map 2, Fugoro will show up early to steal one of your Treasures. You will waste the opportunity if you are unable to pay. But be sure to always keep some Gold on hand, because a few of these adventures have a fee. Narratives are some of the most interesting encounters on the map. But the strategy does very much depend on what you are presented with. It's usually a better idea to save up for Treasures and any good Gems. You may wish to buy an especially good card right away, but do note these cost a lot more than drafting them on the map.

Changing to different Heroes means you have more to learn. By focusing on two Heroes, you can learn their play styles against the enemies you face. This means you unlock additional strategies and cool cards. Winning builds up your pool of cards for the Heroes you are playing. It's best to play a few games with the same two Heroes. This is an important part of optimising your fights. This Hero will start in front for each Battle. Then click on the star beside the Hero you wish to lead. If you decide to tinker with this, I think an immense enjoyment can be reached.During the game, you can change leaders at any time by clicking on the Hero icon in the toolbar. Though you can get an impossible deck -all epic cards, gems, and equipment, for example- trying to put three gem sockets in a card, or assign cards not belonging to your current heroes will likely result in a crash. You can also modify the deck your characters are using -for which browsing cards.json might prove invaluable-, though you'd be advised to keep things within the game's parameters. So, you can go to the line "brushes" or "gold" and adjust your current total.
Why is this relevant? Because in the place where our saves are stored there is a file called run.json, where the data of your game is stored. It also contains the ID of each card in the game. This stores the text and other variables so that they can be properly shown in the game. The first one is cards.json, within the game files and can be opened with any text editor. So, there are two documents of interest here. NOTE: before making ANY changes to the file, I strongly suggest you make a copy of it, in case things go wrong.
